Profile Design Sonic Bracket Kit

The Profile Design Sonic Bracket Kit is engineered with a focus on maximum strength and minimal weight, which is crucial for riders seeking top-level performance. The bracket itself is made from forged 6061-T6 aluminum, a material known for its exceptional durability and resistance to the stresses that occur during intensive cycling and competition. The forged construction ensures that the bracket remains stiff and reliable, providing a stable base for your extensions. With a total weight of only 234 grams, the kit adds minimal mass to your bike, which is essential for maintaining a light and responsive front end. The surface is finished in a classic black, complementing most modern cockpits. It is important to note that although aluminum is extremely robust, components should always be inspected after a possible crash or hard impact, as the material can be damaged without visible signs. With this kit, Profile Design has created a balance between industrial strength and user-friendly functionality, making it a preferred choice for both enthusiasts and professional triathletes who require equipment they can trust under all conditions. The robust nature of the 6061-T6 alloy also means that the brackets can withstand the torque required for a secure handlebar mounting without risking deformation, as long as the recommended torque values are strictly observed.

When it comes to integration and compatibility, the Sonic Bracket Kit is designed as an extremely versatile solution that fits into Profile Design's extensive modular ecosystem. The bracket is specifically developed to be mounted on classic round basebars or handlebars with a diameter of 31.8 mm, which is the standard for most modern road and triathlon bikes. One of the main advantages of this kit is its ability to accept extensions with a standard diameter of 22.2 mm. This gives the rider the freedom to choose from a wide selection of extensions, regardless of whether they are made of lightweight carbon or robust aluminium. The system is also fully compatible with Profile Design's riser kits, which means you can easily raise your position if your setup requires more height to achieve the ideal balance between comfort and speed. This modular approach makes it possible to upgrade or fine-tune your cockpit continuously as your needs change or you gain access to new components. Whether you are building a dedicated time trial bike from scratch or want to transform your regular road bike into a tri-machine by adding clip-on aero bars, the Sonic Bracket Kit provides the necessary technical platform. It is designed to work seamlessly with different types of armrests (cups), ensuring that you are not locked into one specific configuration, but can tailor your setup to your exact anatomy.

Aerodynamic optimization is at the core of the Sonic Bracket Kit's design philosophy. The bracket is designed with a very low stack height of just 42.6 mm, allowing the rider to achieve an extremely compact and aggressive position that reduces frontal area and thus wind resistance. This is a critical factor for saving seconds on both short time trials and long Ironman distances. In addition to the vertical profile, the kit offers impressive width adjustability of up to 37 mm, which Profile Design describes as an industry-leading adjustment range. This flexibility means you can place your extensions and armrests exactly where they provide the best aerodynamic profile while maintaining the comfort needed to hold the position for several hours. The precise adjustability allows for fine-tuning the distance between the arms, so you can either close off the wind or open up for better breathing and stability. By combining a low profile with the possibility of both horizontal and vertical adjustment, the Sonic Bracket Kit helps the rider find their sweet spot, where power output is highest and air resistance is lowest. For serious riders chasing marginal gains, the ability to make these small but significant adjustments is invaluable. The modular design also supports experimenting with different angles and positions, which is essential for optimizing performance and reducing physical fatigue caused by a suboptimal riding position over long distances.
